A single fertilized female can be enough to start a whole infestation. Cockroaches are nocturnal, hiding during the day in cracks and other voids. When they are seen, the infestation is already advanced.

They move freely through walls, pipes, electrical conduits, and shared spaces between apartments. The problem of one apartment quickly becomes that of the neighbors above, below, and on the sides.

Commercially available repellent insecticides worsen the situation. They disperse the colony to the walls, neighboring apartments, and make the problem a collective one. Heat, humidity, and food: wherever humans live, cockroaches find their place.
